One of the questions I hear most often is surprisingly simple.
"What does a Likya trip actually look like?"
The honest answer is that it depends almost entirely on the people taking it.
Some guests imagine spending six hours on a boat, stopping whenever the water looks impossible to resist. Others wake up excited to explore ancient Lycian ruins before lingering over lunch in the harbor. Some travel for food. Others for diving. Some arrive with children. Others are celebrating an anniversary. Some want adventure every morning. Others want the freedom to do very little at all.
None of those people should have the same itinerary.
Because people rarely remember a trip because they checked every box.
They remember it because it felt like it was made for them.
For most of us, travel is one of the few times each year when we can truly step away from everyday life. Those days are limited. They deserve more than simply seeing as much as possible.
The best value in travel isn't visiting the most places.
It's spending your time doing the things you'll still be talking about years later.
Sometimes that's finding a quiet cove by boat.
Sometimes it's discovering a family-run restaurant you'd never have chosen from an online review.
Sometimes it's spending an afternoon by the pool, talking with family or new friends until you suddenly realize the sun is beginning to set.
Those are the moments that stay with us.
Every Likya trip begins the same way.
Not with an itinerary.
With a conversation.
Before recommending a single activity, I want to understand what you're hoping this trip becomes.
Would your perfect day be spent exploring history or floating on the water?
Are you traveling to celebrate something special?
Do you enjoy planning every hour, or would you rather have trusted recommendations and the freedom to decide as the week unfolds?
Those answers shape everything that follows.
Because planning shouldn't begin with activities.
It should begin with people.
One thing I've learned over the years is that travelers define freedom differently.
Some genuinely enjoy researching every restaurant, every hotel, every beach, and every transfer before they leave home.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Likya was simply built for a different kind of traveler.
The people who enjoy traveling with us aren't looking for someone to make every decision.
They're looking for someone they can trust.
Someone who understands the destination well enough to recommend the right experiences for the right people.
The difference isn't access.
It's judgment.
Türkiye remains the heart of what we do today.
It's where we've built relationships, discovered remarkable people, and created experiences we're proud to share.
As Likya grows, that same philosophy will guide every destination we eventually recommend.
Not because we're trying to offer more places.
Because every destination should earn its place through firsthand experience and the confidence to recommend it without hesitation.
The destination may change.
The philosophy won't.
People often imagine a travel company being built on airplanes or in distant places.
The truth is, many of the most important conversations happen back in New York.
This summer has been filled with maps spread across my desk, conversations with guests planning next year's travels, and plenty of time reflecting on where Likya is headed.
One thing has become increasingly clear.
While destinations will evolve, the reason behind every journey remains the same: helping people spend their limited time in a way that feels meaningful to them.
That's the future we're building.
One thoughtful journey at a time.
While Likya remains focused on Türkiye today, I've quietly begun helping a handful of guests think through journeys in other places I've come to know personally over the years.
They're not on the website yet, and that's intentional.
Every destination we eventually recommend will be somewhere we'd confidently suggest to our own friends and family first.
